Few things are more fulfilling than time spent making your small corner of the world slightly better each day.
Caring for the property as someone who lives here would. Because I do.
Howdy neighbor-
Hello, I’m Michael. I’m your neighbor. Not only will this December mark my 12th year residing here in Mill Run, but my fiancé Sydney has also lived here for over 5 years in one mushroom and is in the process of purchasing one of her own, and, my mother purchased a mushroom unit just over a year ago which I now manage. So I’ve got some long-standing ties here that continue to grow stronger.
I love making green things grow well. I studied biology and botany at university, but I’ve enjoyed gardening since I was 5, and lawncare since my teens. As someone who deeply enjoys working outside, in the time that I’ve been here, I’ve set about correcting for oversight in the turf and shrub care around my unit and many of the surrounding units, at my own expense, just out of a simple desire to enjoy the rewards of a nice healthy lawn and landscaping.
Considering what’s important-
As I’ve expanded my reach in my spare time, and spread out to improve the immediate area around our units, I’ve been able to achieve some impressive results, and relatively quickly. But as costs for materials like fertilizer and quality seed has increased significantly across the board over the last few years, it’s become more difficult to account for these expenses personally out of pocket. Especially being under the impression that this level of care technically should be a part of what we already pay for.
This lead me to wonder why these basic needs are being met less and less by our current groundskeeping service? And in answering this question, I began work on developing a solution - an opportunity for a win-win scenario whereby we all get to enjoy the Mill Ridge grounds at their highest potential.
Expanding for new progress-
Although I operate a small service business here in Raleigh that will be celebrating it’s 15th year in October, what was a full-time operation will better suite me as part-time only going forward, and with the time I now have available, I’d like to offer myself and my efforts to the Mill Ridge community as it’s new groundskeeping / landscaping service provider going forward.
Using what I’ve learned over the years through building and operating an ultra efficient, highly effective, top-rated mobile service business, I can offer a similarly lightweight-but-effective, custom fit application of my skills in this area of landscaping that I maintain a genuine passion for.
I operate with a simple 2-part value system based on 1. Customer satisfaction, and 2. Efficiency. In this way, and equipped with the right gear, I can not only meet the standards of the current groundskeepers, I can easily exceed them. Speaking of gear…
TameTurf comes fully equipped-
In addition to the standard gas powered commercial-grade tools of the trade - string trimmer (weed eater), backpack blower, hedge trimmers, chainsaw, chipper/ shredder, etc., TameTurf has something special - A mower that is so much more…
Not just a capable mower in it’s own right, the Multi Force has the unique capability of powering a variety of incredibly useful attachments - blower, mulch dump bed, aerater, broadcast spreader, snow plow, and more. So TameTurf is powered not just by a love for landscaping, but also by the most capable professional-grade commercial equipment ready for whatever is required, and then some. With the versatility that only the Toro Multi Force adds to the equation, TameTurf can easily meet the ongoing needs of the Mill Ridge grounds.
Hitting the ground running-
Although not a traditionally established lawncare business prior to this bid for Mill Ridge, in the sense of what you might typically expect to be able to offer this level of service, once we arrive on site, you’d never know it otherwise. TameTurf has some unconventional advantages that can be leveraged to greatly benefit the Mill Ridge community. Because lawncare and landscaping has been a long-standing interest and source of fulfillment, I bring a genuine level of dedication that’s hard to match, especially compared to someone who is just in it for an hourly wage.
In addition, my future father-in-law - an arborist and a botanist, like his father before him - has owned and operated Green Acres Landscaping for over 25 years. With access to such resources as his experience and the combined experience of his crew, TameTurf has the guidance, mentorship, and occasional helping hand to be able to perform at the level that our community needs.
With equipment acquisition, business establishment, insurance coverage, strategy, and mentorship all lined up and ready for immediate implementation, TameTurf is ready to materialize into reality at moment’s notice, capable of picking up right where the current crew leaves off. And in my opinion, not a moment too soon.
